On the 7th of October work is scheduled to start on replacing and repairing drains around the golf course but particularly on holes 11, 15 and 16.
Please note the following Temporary Local Rule has been put in place to deal with this Abnormal Ground Condition (Ground Under Repair) and will apply from Monday 7 October 2024 until further notice. Due to the nature and extensive length of the works coupled with the current wet conditions, it is impractical for these areas to be continually ‘white lined’ in the usual way. The local rule below describes the relevant areas of GUR but, if you are in doubt whether relief may be taken under this local rule, then the ball should be played as it lies.
Under Rule 16, relief may be taken when the player’s ball touches or is on an abnormal course condition or where the condition physically interferes with the player’s area of intended stance or intended swing - in this case the Abnormal Ground Condition is defined as within two club’s length either side of any recent open or backfilled drain trench or hole or tyre mark anywhere on the course.
The relief that may be taken is within one club from the nearest point of complete relief, not nearer the hole.
